Athletic history :
As a boy, born and raised in Quebec, I grew up surrounded with the culture of hockey!  I played days and nights at the outdoor rink until my feet and fingers were frozen! But hockey wasn't enough to satisfy my need for adventure, so I decided to take on the challenge of curling! Yep, I was a curler, and developed a powerful aerobic engine from sweeping rocks!!!

Unfortunately, I had to stop playing hockey at the age of 16 after been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease.

After struggling with heath problems due to Crohn's, I decided to look for a sport that would be easier on my body, so I took part in my first triathlon at age 17. I finished last of the 150 competitors with a time of 6h42 minutes! Easy?!?  I was hooked!

I loved the sport and progressed well over the next few seasons so I decided to take on the challenge of Ironman distance racing.  I competed in my first Ironman in 1997 and finished in 10h46mins.  I also went on to race at the Age Group Long Distance World Championships in Japan. I took part in my first World Cup in 2000 in Toronto! In 2001, I moved to BC to train at the National Triathlon Training Center in Victoria.

The next five years would be a slow and not so steady road, where I learned a lot and trained with other athletes such as Simon Whitfield, Greg Bennett and Peter Reid. I was mainly focusing on short course and ITU races at that time and enjoyed a very good development period with a lot of racing and traveling around the world.

In, 2004, I changed direction and decided to focus on long distance and Ironman exclusively.  I moved to Penticton BC where I incorporated my ITU knowledge to teach Tom Evans how to adapt that to Ironman racing. I guess it worked - since he won 2 Ironman events during that period!

In 2006, I competed at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii for the first time.  That's when my dream to one day be the World Champion and win this race began to grow.

I am now focused specifically on training for Ironman races, with the ultimate goal of full triathlon domination on the 'Big Island' someday!
